Abstract

Education is a fundamental aspect in human resource development, but social studies learning at SMPN 2 Soko still faces the problem of low student learning outcomes with an average score of 69.2 and only 42% reaching the KKM. This study aims to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model on the social studies learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMPN 2 Soko in the 2025/2026 academic year. The study used a quantitative approach with an experimental type. The sample was selected by purposive sampling, namely class VII A as the experimental class given the CTL model treatment and class VII B as the control class with conventional learning. The results of the hypothesis test using the Independent Sample t-Test on the posttest data obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a Mean Difference of 13.217. The N-Gain test results showed an increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class by 56.03% and the control class by 61.84%, both in the fairly effective category. These results indicate that there is a significant difference in the average social studies learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class, so that the CTL learning model has a positive and significant effect on students' social studies learning outcomes
