Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan tahap design dalam perancangan e-book cerita bergambar bertema pelestarian lingkungan untuk literasi sains siswa SMP, sejalan dengan pemanfaatan teknologi informasi untuk membentuk generasi yang mandiri, unggul, dan adaptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan model 4-D Thiagarajan, dengan fokus pada tahap design berdasarkan hasil analisis kebutuhan pada tahap define. Data yang digunakan meliputi hasil analisis kebutuhan guru dan siswa, analisis kurikulum, pemetaan indikator literasi sains, serta dokumen rancangan produk. Hasil penelitian berupa rancangan e-book cerita bergambar berjudul “12 Jam Sebelum Bumi Berhenti Bernapas” dalam format PDF, yang memuat bagian pembuka, pengenalan tokoh, cerita utama, aktivitas literasi sains, refleksi, pesan moral, dan penutup. Rancangan cerita mengintegrasikan fenomena lingkungan seperti pencemaran air, pembakaran sampah plastik, deforestasi, coral bleaching, pencemaran laut, monokultur, hilangnya predator, aksi pelestarian lingkungan, dan perubahan positif setelah aksi lingkungan. Setiap bagian cerita dikaitkan dengan indikator literasi sains melalui aktivitas berbasis masalah, pertanyaan reflektif, serta tautan atau QR Code. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa e-book cerita bergambar dapat dirancang sebagai media pembelajaran IPA digital yang mengintegrasikan narasi, visual, konsep ekologi, fenomena lingkungan, dan aktivitas literasi sains sehingga berpotensi mendukung siswa yang mandiri dalam belajar, unggul dalam penalaran ilmiah, dan adaptif terhadap isu lingkungan.

Abstract
This study aimed to describe the design stage in developing an environmental conservation-themed picture story e-book for junior high school students’ scientific literacy, in line with use of information technology to support independent, excellent, and adaptive generations. This study employed a research and development approach using the 4-D model Thiagarajan, focusing on the design stage based on the needs analysis conducted in the define stage. The data used in this study included teacher and student needs analysis, curriculum analysis, scientific literacy indicator mapping, and product design documents. The result of this study was a picture story e-book design entitled ““12 Jam Sebelum Bumi Berhenti Bernapas”” in PDF format, consisting of an opening section, character introduction, main story, scientific literacy activities, reflection, moral messages, and closing section. The storyline integrated environmental phenomena such as water pollution, plastic waste burning, deforestation, coral bleaching, marine pollution, monoculture, predator loss, environmental conservation actions, and positive changes after environmental actions. Each story section was linked to scientific literacy indicators through problem-based activities, reflective questions, and links or QR Codes. The design results showed that a picture story e-book could be designed as a digital science learning medium that integrated narrative, visuals, ecological concepts, environmental phenomena, and scientific literacy activities, thereby potentially supporting students to become independent in learning, excellent in scientific reasoning, and adaptive to environmental issues.
