Pengembangan Web Game Edukasi 'Vocabulary Adventure' Berbasis Digital Game-Based Learning untuk Pembelajaran Kosakata Bahasa Inggris Siswa Kelas X DKV SMKN Dander
Abstract

Abstract
The integration of digital technology into the education sector has triggered the emergence of new interactive, innovative, and adaptive learning tools to meet the characteristics of the modern generation of students. Consequently, English vocabulary instruction at the Vocational High School (SMK) level is dominated by a monotonous, conventional approach. Consequently, students' active engagement and motivation in class are suboptimal. To address these obstacles, this research aims to develop a website-based interactive educational media in the form of the game "Vocabulary Adventure," applying the Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL) concept. This media is specifically designed to accelerate foreign language vocabulary mastery for 10th-grade students specializing in Visual Communication Design (DKV) at SMKN Dander. This research procedure adopts a Research and Development (R&D) framework through the implementation of the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. This instructional system is developed as a web application, making it easily accessible via a computer browser or smartphone without the need to install external software. The game's primary instrument integrates learning materials, interactive evaluations, leveling, score accumulation, digital appreciation, and instant feedback, designed to stimulate students' attention and enthusiasm for learning. Research findings confirm that the "Vocabulary Adventure" product provides a more persuasive, dynamic, and recreational learning environment. Furthermore, the use of this educational game has been shown to positively contribute to strengthening students' retention and understanding of English vocabulary. The use of the DGBL strategy can be a viable alternative solution to support foreign language teaching at the vocational high school level.
