ANALISIS KETERAMPILAN DASAR GEOMETRI HOFFER SISWA MTS PADA MATERI SEGIEMPAT BERDASARKAN LEVEL BERPIKIR VAN HIELE

Penguasaan geometri merupakan bagian penting dalam pembelajaran matematika karena melatih keterampilan berpikir visual, logis, dan analitis siswa. Namun, hasil ujian sekolah menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan materi geometri siswa masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan geometri siswa MTs pada materi segiempat berdasarkan level berpikir Van Hiele. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek siswa kelas IX yang dipilih berdasarkan klasifikasi level Van Hiele. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi tes VHGT, tes keterampilan geometri, dan wawancara bebas terpimpin. Berikut kalimat pembuka yang cocok untuk menyambung paragraf terakhir Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan geometri siswa MTs dalam menyelesaikan soal segiempat masih didominasi oleh level berpikir visualisasi dan analisis, sementara hanya sedikit siswa yang mencapai level deduksi informal. Hal ini mencerminkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa masih berada pada tahap awal dalam memahami konsep geometri secara mendalam, dan belum sepenuhnya mampu menghubungkan serta menalar sifat-sifat bangun secara logis dan sistematis.

Abstract

Mastery of geometry is an important part of mathematics learning because it trains students’ visual, logical, and analytical thinking skills. However, school examination results show that students’ mastery of geometry material remains relatively low. This study aims to describe the geometry skills of Islamic junior high school (MTs) students on the topic of quadrilaterals based on Van Hiele’s levels of geometric thinking. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with eighth-grade students selected according to the Van Hiele level classification. Data were collected through the Van Hiele Geometry Test (VHGT), a geometry skills test, and guided free interviews. The results of this study indicate that the geometry skills of MTs students in solving quadrilateral problems are still dominated by the visualization and analysis levels of thinking, while only a few students have reached the informal deduction level. This finding reflects that most students are still at an early stage in understanding geometric concepts in depth and have not yet fully developed the ability to connect and reason about the properties of shapes logically and systematically.
