Gaya Bahasa sebagai Alternatif Komunikasi Guru Bahasa Inggris dalam Mengajar di Kelas

Abstrak

Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan dimana dalam berkomunikasi seyogyanya guru bahasa Inggris mempunyai pedoman berkomunikasi dengan baik sehingga apa  yang disampaikan selama kegitan belajar mengajar dapat diterima oleh siswanya. Dalam penelitian ini, Guru Bahasa Inggris yang menjadi subyek penelitian untuk dianalisa gaya bahasa yang digunakan ketika berkomunikasi dalam proses belajar mengajar. Lebih khusus, ucapan atau kalimat  yang terucap oleh guru Bahasa Inggris selama ngajar dikelas dalam waktu tertentu berdasarkan teorinya Martin Joos (1976), tentang Language Style. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian Kualitatif dengan pendekatan Dokumen Analisis. Sumber Datanya adalah Guru Bahasa Inggris yang mengajar dikelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jombang, dan datanya adalah ungkapan atau kalimat yang digunakan oleh guru Bahasa Inggris selama kegiatan belajar mengajar diwaktu tertentu. Intrumen yang digunakan adalah Observation dan Record ketika Guru Bahasa Inggris Mengajar. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan merekam Guru Bahasa Inggris ketika mengajar di dalam kelas. Sedangkan, untuk proses analisa sendiri dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasikan gaya bahasa yang digunakan oleh guru Bahasa Inggris  dalam mengajar dikelas dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana gaya bahasa diaplikasikan selama kegiatan belajar mengajar.

Abstract

This research has a purpose where in communicating English teachers should have good communication guidelines so that what is conveyed during the activity of teaching and learning can be accepted by the students. In this study, the English teacher who was the subject of the study was analyzed the language style used when communicating in the teaching and learning process. More specifically, the words or sentences spoken by the English teacher during teaching in class in a certain time based on the theory of Martin Joos (1976), about Language Style. The research method was a qualitative research method with the Document Analysis approach. The data source was an English teacher who teaches class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jombang, and the data were expressions or sentences used by English teachers during teaching and learning activities at certain times. The instruments were Observation and Record when the English Teacher Teaching. The process of collecting data was done by recording an English teacher when teaching in the classroom. Meanwhile, the analysis process itself was done by classifying the style of language used by the English teacher in teaching the class and describing how the language style was applied during teaching and learning activities.
