Abstract

Abstract

The ability to connect mathematics is an important part needed in problem solving. The aim of this research is to describe the level of mathematical literacy based on the mathematical connection abilities of class VI students at SDN Kalicilik. The research method used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. Data was collected through a mathematical connection test which consisted of six questions in the form of long descriptions. The collected data was analyzed using the percentage statistical formula. The results of this research indicate that the ability to make mathematical connections between topics is dominated by students up to level 2 at 29%, that is, there is a tendency for students to be able to sort information from sources using appropriate formulas. The connection ability between scientific fields is dominated at level 1 at 21%, namely there is a tendency to identify several connections between mathematics and other scientific disciplines. The ability to connect with everyday life is dominated at level 2 at 21%, namely there is a tendency to be able to identify situations where mathematics is applied in everyday life.

Keywords: mathematical connection ability, mathematical literacy, elementary school
